The Pride march was flagged off by former minister and BJP MLA S. A. Ramadas, who has stressed the need for mainstream society to accept the LGBTQ community which is the need of the hour. He also assured the community that he would consider getting them houses under Pradhana Mantri Awas Yojana. He said, My heart goes with these people who have been facing stigma and discrimination. I am ready to help them by getting them houses under PMs housing scheme and also if they need any health care facilities I would be the first one to help them. The event witnessed the presence and unequivocal support of Professors, scholars and students from the University of Mysore, journalists, doctors, researchers, students and scores of young people who poured in to support the cause of the LGBTQ community. Trans-leader Pranati Prakash expressed pride in the march being held in Mysore and Secretary Bhagya Lakshmi added that the fight for LGBTQ rights is not restricted to those who are affected, but is an issue Ashodaya Samithi recognizes as a central issue.
